Hello, learners! Are you ready to put your skills to the test? We are thrilled to announce a new 7-Day Challenge centered around our latest long course. This is your chance to move from theory to product by building a deliverable from prompting using what you have learned from the long course: AI Prompting for Everyone.
Challenge Dates: Tuesday, April 28 – Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Submission Deadline: Tuesday, May 5 2026 11:59 PM PST
Rewards & Recognition
We want to celebrate your hard work!
Winner Recognition: Standout submissions will receive special recognition from DeepLearning.AI and are eligible for small prizes (to be announced) to honor your technical excellence!
The Challenge
Choose one of the three prompting challenges below:
1. Make a smart decision: Use AI to compare options and make a clear, objective choice.
Examples: jobs, apartments, tools, online courses, career paths, TVs, pans
Final output: slides or report with options considered, your recommendation, and reasoning
2. Upgrade a messy process: Use AI to redesign a frustrating or inefficient process so it becomes simpler and more effective.
Examples: meal prep, weekly planning, budgeting, inbox management
Final output: slides, report, or app showing the improved process and a clear step-by-step plan
3. Build a work deliverable end-to-end: Use AI to create a complete deliverable from scratch, from objective and audience to polished final output. Do not use private company data.
Examples: strategy memo, analysis report, project plan, stakeholder presentation, execution roadmap
Final output: the finished deliverable
Challenge Requirements:
Your submission must:
- tackle a task that would normally take a human 5+ hours
- produce a real deliverable, not just ideas or research
- show AI used across multiple steps, from scoping to final output
- show thoughtful prompting through iteration and refinement
- Invoke use at least 1-2 distinct AI capabilities relevant to your task
(AI capabilities: web search, deep research, uploading an image or video, writing code)
Use AI to actually do the work, not just talk about it.
Your submission will be evaluated by the following rubric:
| Evaluation Area | What is being measured | What excellence looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Choosing the Right Inputs and Context | Did you give the AI the right context, constraints, and materials to do the task well? | Clear goal, audience, constraints, priorities, and success criteria. Any sources or uploaded materials are relevant and useful. |
| 2. Neutral, Objective Prompting | Did you prompt in a way that seeks the best answer, not just the answer you want? | Prompts are balanced, not leading. They ask for tradeoffs, risks, weaknesses, and honest reasoning. |
| 3. Pushing for Deeper Thinking | Did you push beyond a quick, surface-level response? Did you invoke web-search or deep-research when it would be helpful? | You asked for deeper analysis, stronger reasoning, assumptions, edge cases, and clear justification. |
| 4. Iteration and Refinement | Did you improve the work through multiple rounds? | You used follow-up prompts to fix gaps, improve quality, and sharpen the final output. |
| Task complexity and AI impact | Was this a meaningful, multi-step task where AI played an important role? | The task is substantial, would normally take significant time, and AI was used across the process — not just for small edits or ideas. |
Submission instructions:
To submit your project, please follow these steps carefully:
-
Location: Go to the AI prompting for Everyone category on the Forum.
-
Thread: Add your submission as a reply to the thread titled {submit} Prompting-to-Real-World-Deliverable Challenge here.
a. Make a reply to the post on the Forum with a short description of what your prompting goal was and what you created.
b. Fill out this form to share your artifacts with the DeepLearning team. An example form submission can be found here. Your submission should include Chat transcript(s) in pdf, final artifacts/deliverables created from prompting, and a short reflection.
c. Confirm in your post that you have completed the form in step b.
