AI Self-Duplication: Could It Be the Next Stage of Intelligence?

The most common prediction for AI’s future is Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), where AI can perform human-level tasks across domains. But could there be a second level of intelligence — one where AI can self-replicate, evolving into a system that autonomously builds and optimizes other AI models?

Imagine an AI that can design the best possible intelligence architecture before even encountering a tasks, like engineering the perfect brain for a child before they are born, ensuring they have the potential for super intelligence from day one.

I’m not an expert, just a curious learner, but hypothetically, this could be possible if we:

  1. Store all known AI algorithms and assign meta-level tokens to each.

  2. Use transformer-like architectures to dynamically select and construct the optimal AI for each problem.

  3. Apply reinforcement learning to explore new architectures and algorithms beyond human-designed ones.

I don’t know if this is currently achievable, but if it were, it could lead to an incredibly powerful form of AI.

What do you think? Could AI self-duplication and self-optimization be the next breakthrough? Feel free to leave a comment

Have a nice day!
