Building a Secure AI Language Tutor for Science Fest Africa in Djibouti

Hi everyone! I am Houssein Ali, a student developer from Djibouti.

I am currently engineering a Secure AI Language Tutor for the Science Fest Africa 2026 competition. My goal is to use AI to help students preserve local languages while ensuring their data is secure through a protected login system.

My Tech Stack:

  • Platform: Code.org App Lab

  • Model: Custom Text-Classification (AI Lab)

  • Hardware: Limited (Old laptop, slow internet)

I am looking for advice on:

  1. How to train a model for languages with low digital data.

  2. How to optimize my Javascript logic in App Lab so the app stays fast on older devices.

  3. Connecting with anyone who has experience building AI for the African educational context.

I have already started the design and basic database logic! I would love any feedback or mentorship.
