Hello DeepLearning.AI mentors, I am having an issue with Course 2, Week 3 of the Machine Learning Specialization. Course: Advanced Learning Algorithms Week: 3 Assignment: Advice for Applying Machine Learning Notebook: C2_W3_Assignment.ipynb The grader is failing before it reaches my graded exercises. The error says Cell #1 cannot compile because the train_test_split import appears to have a Coursera notebook URL appended to it. Complete grader error: Cell #1. Can’t compile the student’s code. Error: SyntaxError(‘invalid syntax’, (‘/tmp/student_solution_cells/cell_1.py’, 9, 58, ‘from sklearn.model_selection import train_test_split[[ Coursera | Online Courses From Top Universities. Join for Free …’]( Coursera | Online Courses From Top Universities. Join for Free …'))) The line should be: from sklearn.model_selection import train_test_split However, a Coursera lab URL seems to have been inserted after train_test_split, which makes the cell invalid Python. The problem is that Cell #1 is not editable, so I cannot remove the URL myself. The grader stops at Cell #1 before reaching my graded exercises. I have already tried: - Rebooting the lab server - Getting the latest lab version - Switching to the old lab experience - Using another browser - Creating/restoring a fresh version of the lab Downloading/restoring a fresh copy did not resolve the issue. I am attaching screenshots of: 1. Cell #1 2. The grader output showing the SyntaxError Could a mentor please check whether there is an issue with the notebook master copy or grader for C2_W3_Assignment.ipynb, or advise me how to restore the affected non-editable Cell #1? Thank you very much.
It’s possible that your notebook has been damaged in some way accidentally. One reasonable first step would be to get a clean copy and start over. Here’s the procedure to do that if you are taking the course on Coursera.
One other thing to note in general is that it usually doesn’t work to submit to the grader until you’ve completed all sections of the assignment. If there are parts you haven’t filled in yet, that frequently leaves syntax errors and the grader can’t run if there are syntax errors anywhere in the notebook.
