Hello from USA. Anyone interested in Parkinson's Disease and ML?

All,

I am interested in the possibility of applying ML techniques to various aspects of PD. Let’s trade thoughts if you are also interested.

regards,

Katherine

Hello Katherine,

I am really looking forward to this. Let’s exchange our thoughts.

Hi , looking forward to discuss the same.

Abujar and Malloju,

I hope y’all are well.

I am a software developer. I have worked in biotech for some years. I was thinking it would be nice to see what has already been done in PD with ML. This might give us ideas about what has been done – and what has not been done with the datasets available. I have found a few resources online that seem like they might be useful when studying PD. Let me list them.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research | Parkinson’s Disease (michaeljfox.org) has a section for researchers. I signed up for their newsletter.

www.kaggle.com, I am sure you know, has datasets that are free to the public on various topics, including PD. There are datasets of images, sound waves, etc.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/search/ is a collection of 8 million research papers on all topics from around the world. I search for PD there and found a big pile of papers on the topic.

https://github.com/ has a similar search capability and lots of projects on PD.

Let me know what y’all would add to this list.

regards,

Hi Katherine,
I would love to talk about PD. I’m currently heading the protein design R&D team in my startup and I have personal interest in PD. Please feel free to reach out.

I am interested in helping. I have a bachelors in CS and EE from MIT. I am a successful entrepreneur but have spent a lot of time learning the latest on AI to do a startup that helps humanity. Your post piqued my interest because there are many interesting data sets to analyze using AI to help with PD research. I am happy to help on development, investment, etc. Is this for your current employer or for a new venture?

Hello, I am currently developing my thesis with Parkinson’s and ML patients. What is your interest?

Hello Katherine,

I too am interested in discussing and applying ML aspects to various aspects of PD. Looking forward to it.

All,

I am delighted to see the interest in this topic, plus talent in this group! Since this thread is just my introduction to myself, I think we need a bit of organization. I took the liberty of creating a topic for us: Parkinson's
We could also use some structure. We could start by stating our interests and ideas in the topic, plus some notes about our backgrounds. I will go first, by adding mine in the topic “Parkinson’s” linked above.

If anyone else wants to drive this bus, please let us know.

regards,

Katherine
