How to practice what I learned?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently completed the first two courses in the Machine Learning Specialization on Coursera. I’m eager to practice what I’ve learned to strengthen my understanding of the concepts. I would really appreciate any suggestions on a systematic approach to effectively apply and reinforce these concepts.

Additionally, I’m looking to work on projects to build my resume and improve my chances of securing an internship. If you have any advice on how to get started with practical projects or resources that could be helpful, I’d be grateful for your insights.

Thank you in advance!

Google Colab and Kaggle have good resource for doing your own projects.

I don’t have any career advice regarding internships.

Thank you for your suggestion!

I’ve tried practicing using Kaggle datasets, but I’m struggling to achieve the desired results, particularly when it comes to preprocessing the data and handling certain challenges. I realize I might need more practice in these areas.

Could you recommend any beginner-friendly projects available online that I can refer to?

@Karthik14 Congratulations on completing the first two courses in the Machine Learning Specialization! Applying your knowledge is an excellent way to strengthen your understanding. Here are some structured steps to help you reinforce your learning:

As suggested by @TMosh, you can leverage Google Colab and Kaggle for hands-on practice. Additionally, to further enhance your skills, consider participating in Kaggle Competitions (link) and DrivenData challenges (link).

You can also start working on small projects that address real-world problems. For maximum impact, try aligning your projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (link). Research impact is increasingly measured by how well it aligns with these global goals.

Regarding internships, since you’re currently in your second year (as per your profile  Apologies if I assumed incorrectly!), I’d recommend using this time to build a solid foundation. Aim to master these concepts by your third year so you’ll be well-prepared for internships and future opportunities.

Best of luck on your journey!

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions and the effort you put into sharing these resources. I really appreciate it!

Aligning projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) sounds like a great way to apply my knowledge to real-world problems. I’m also excited to explore the DrivenData challenges and Kaggle competitions you recommended. Having specific resources to work with makes the process feel a lot less overwhelming.

And I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to check my profile and offer personalized advice. It means a lot! I’ll definitely keep your suggestions in mind as I continue learning and working on projects.

Thanks once again for your kindness and support!
