Ethiopia is one of the most populated countries in the world, with more than 135 million people and a very young population whose median age is only 19. This creates a unique opportunity to prepare the next generation for the future of technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI).
However, most AI education materials and tools such as Google Translate are not optimized for Amharic and other Ethiopian languages. Word-by-word translation often creates confusion and reduces accessibility. As a result, millions of young Ethiopians face a language barrier when trying to learn modern technology.
Improving AI terminology in Ethiopian languages can help unlock the potential of our youth, make global knowledge reachable, and ensure we are active participants in the AI revolution—not just consumers. My goal is to contribute to building better, clearer, and more accurate AI language tools that support learning and innovation in Ethiopia.
