Module1 notebook hanging

Hi,the module 1 notebook is stuck on the setup cell. Just hanging with no errors.

How long did you wait for it to complete?

10+ minutes, and tried a few times, its just a setup module so should run in seconds.

FYI seems to be hosted on amddevcloud domain

Sorry, I have no idea about this issue.

Maybe try restarting the kernel. It would be an interesting datapoint for the course staff.

Thanks for checking,

I did restart kernel, re-load course etc. with same result - still the same as the screenshot

This appears to be an issue that needs investigation.

looking closer the notebook is not actually connecting to a kernel - it goes from connecting to disconnected so probably timing out. so good area to focus on @TMosh

Is this the first time you’ve tried to access any notebooks in any of the courses here? Or in this course in particular? Since you can’t connect to the kernel, this could be an IT problem on your side. E.g. a firewall or proxy server on your network or A/V software on your computer blocking the connection to the kernel. It would be worth trying a VPN, if you aren’t already using one. Also check your A/V settings.

Hi, sorry to hear you have issues. May I ask which browser you are using? Can you try with chrome?

Hi I was using chrome and still having the same problem after clearing cache & cookies etc.
The good news is it did work ok with edge after I tried today so I can move on using that.

That’s unexpected, usually Edge causes problems, rather than resolving them.

Maybe you have a Chrome extension that is blocking access. Maybe an ad-blocker or privacy plugin. Just guessing.

Yes, that was going to be my guess as well. If everything else is the same (computer, network) and different browsers behave differently then it’s probably Chrome plugins that are causing the issue.

Of course it’s always possible that this is just random reinforcement because the weather changed in the Cloud.

yeah its something local. I should have tired a new browser first. I have a very simple setup and use chrome as default browser and no plugins so did not expect that to be a difference maker. Thanks all for the input on this one. :folded_hands:

The similar problem , restarted the kernel and didn’t resolve the issue. Can’t run any grading assignments.

When I used chrome it was hanging and when I switched to edge it is working now

Perhaps your instance of Edge did not have the same plugins (or the same cookies) installed as on Chrome.

I have the same issue with Safari (Version 26.1 (21622.2.11.11.9))
It does work with Chrome, but still would be nice not having the need to switch to another browser for the notebook. Until now in all other courses I never had issues using Safari with a notebook.
