Subject: Hello from a Brazilian New Deep Learning Enthusiast!

Hey everyone,

I’m Ana Ferreira, and I’m thrilled to be joining the deeplearning.ai community! I’m a Civil Engineer with a Master’s in Structural Engineering, and I’m just starting my PhD in Architectural Engineering at Penn State (PSU).

My fascination with deep learning stems from its immense potential to revolutionize traditional engineering fields. With my background, I’m particularly interested in how we can leverage advanced AI techniques to tackle complex challenges in structural analysis, design optimization, smart materials, and even generative design within architectural engineering.

I’ve been getting my hands dirty with Python, and I have a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and computational methods, which I believe will be highly beneficial as I delve deeper into neural networks and machine learning algorithms.

I’m excited to explore topics like computer vision for structural health monitoring, predictive modeling for material performance, and perhaps even AI-driven design tools that can assist in creating more resilient and sustainable structures. My PhD research will undoubtedly provide many opportunities to apply these concepts.

I’m eager to learn from all of you, participate in discussions, and contribute my perspective from an engineering lens. I’m looking forward to connecting with fellow enthusiasts and experts in this vibrant community!

Best,

Ana Ferreira

Welcome Ana! This is Hari with a very similar background as yours- from sister field -mechanical engineering with masters in machine design specialization. Physics Informed Neural Network(PINNs) is something that might be of your interest as you’re from a computational and numerical method background.
