Week 1 Lab Blocked by SageMaker CreateSpace Permission Error

I am unable to follow the SageMaker setup instructions for ‘Week 1 Lab – Generative AI Use Case: Summarize Dialogue’.

The course instructions tell me to go to Amazon SageMaker AI → Applications and IDEs → Studio, then click Open Studio and select Personal Studio app. However, in my AWS environment, there is no option labeled simply ‘Studio’. Instead, I only see ‘SageMaker Studio’.

When I click SageMaker Studio, it takes me directly to the newer SageMaker Studio interface. In the Applications section, I only have JupyterLab and More Apps.

I tried launching JupyterLab, but I receive the following error:

not authorized to perform: sagemaker:CreateSpace
with an explicit deny in an identity-based policy

I have also tried logging out, using Incognito mode, and disabling my VPN, but the issue remains.

It appears that the course instructions are based on a different SageMaker Studio interface/configuration than the AWS environment currently provided by the lab. How can I solve this problem?

So you choose amazon sagemaker AI and then scrool down open studio! This studio will take you to a jupyter lab that actually runs:

I know it’s actually a bit complex, but try to follow the steps on the Vocabulary page carefully and in the correct order. You’ll be all right!
