Week Quiz: Python code not styled as it should

In the Coursera Quiz, there seem to be sections of Python code which are supposed to be rendered in a particular “code” style. However, this doesn’t seem to work, maybe the open and close tags have changed at some point?

Maybe somebody can look into this.

I just checked the DLS C1 W3 quiz and it looks fine to me. Have you had this problem on other quizzes or is this the first time you’ve encountered this issue? If it is consistent, then the other theory would be that you’ve got a problem with the plugins in your browser. That could be caused by A/V software on your computer or in your LAN.

One more question: when this happens, have you tried clicking “Refresh” on the page? Maybe whatever the problem is could be an interaction based on timing of various operations.

Thanks Paulin,

I think it’s the first time, but it’s consistent with this quiz.

It looks like this:

I don’t know how this is handled, this seems to be a span element that has not been replaced on the server side. The HTML source says:

<span>#+begin_src python</span>
...
<span>#+end_src</span>

There is also a gigantic prompt for an LLM in there…

Note: “paulinpaloalto”’ is parsed as “paul in palo alto”.

Uh, sorry about that.

The other trick is just to click on someone’s name or avatar and you see their profile and usually a closer approximation of their real name.

I also once misread Paul’s username for this forum, and only found out after realizing “palo alto” is a company name. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Palo Alto is the name of a city in California.
It’s the home of Stanford University.

Indeed! Palo Alto borders San Francisco Bay about 20 miles south of San Francisco. There are several parks on the shores of the bay that are great for walking, running, biking and/or watching birds. On the western side of Palo Alto (the side away from the Bay), it surrounds the campus of Stanford and even extends up into the hills behind the university. I’ve lived there off and on since the 1970s and continuously since the mid 1980s.

The Boronda Lake is pretty!

Yes, there is quite a range of interesting scenery in Palo Alto. Boronda Lake is in Foothills Park which is up in the hills west of Stanford. If you’re ever visiting the San Francisco Bay Area, there are a large number of interesting places to visit both in Palo Alto and all over the Bay Area and within a day’s drive of SF.

I hope to visit Palo Alto one day!

Indeed it is!

This book from 2007, better times for USA even though the whiff of End-of-Empire could be smelled.
