What's the best LLM out there right now?

We have all moved on from the early magic of ChatGPT as the LLM space has many players like Claude, Grok and Gemini today. Which one is your favorite and why?

Hey! Overall, if you’re focused on writing or coding, Claude is a must-have. It’s capable of generating full documents following specific structures, building apps in different languages, and helping with an outrageous amount of work; the only con is its context limit. Grok is okay as an overall experience, but I haven’t used it that much. Gemini is a great choice if you’re looking to use NotebookLM, understand math concepts, or code small tools and I really like its Deep Research feature. Overall, though, Claude is my favorite due to its capabilities.

Agreed with @hynpbus. Lately, I’ve found Gemini outperforming others in research and reasoning, but not just about “polishing” or reframing. The real value for me is in the Learning Loop.

When I share system designs or code, it’s usually paired with a breakdown of:
What changed, why it changed and that helps me iteratively improve my initial human draft.

That said, choosing your stack depends on four variables:

  1. What you are building,
  2. Domain knowledge, I am usually heavy on that context.
  3. Prompting skills, and
  4. System constraints.

If you’re looking to sharpen your approach, the @DeepLearningAI’s Skill Builder is a great place to start. It helps you ask the right questions to narrow down the best path for your specific needs.

That’s a great analogy Ian. And you are totally right about NotebookLM. I have used it a bit and found it to be top notch for notes management. Too bad this was not there when I was a student :frowning: but againt that was eons back. You are right about Claude and it is becoming stronger with every new version release. But I have enjoyed my experience with ChatGPT the most due to the way it has communicated. As an LLM playing the role of a fun educator in my learning path, it helped me a lot in learning a subject with never a single dull moment.

Absolutely Parul. And I love Deeplearning AI courses a lot and I am this close :pinching_hand: to buying myself a subscription!

Hey,

There is no single best AI tool because each one is built with different strengths and use cases in mind.

ChatGPT is commonly used for writing, coding help, explanations, brainstorming, and general learning because it performs well across a wide range of tasks. Claude is often preferred for reading and working with long documents, as it gives clear, structured, and detailed responses. Grok is more focused on fast, conversational answers and is often used for quick updates or trending information. Gemini is useful for users who rely on Google services, especially for research, summaries, and productivity-related tasks.

If you want a simple comparison of these tools in one place, you can use this tool.

In the end, the choice depends on the task. Many people use more than one tool together, selecting each one based on what it does best rather than relying on a single option.
