Where should I actually start? Math for ML or Andrew Ng's ML Specialization?

Hey everyone,

I’m starting my machine learning journey on DeepLearning.AI and trying to figure out the best roadmap so I don’t waste time or get totally lost.

I’m torn on where to hit ‘Start’ first: Should I dive straight into Andrew Ng’s Machine Learning Specialization, or is it better to build a foundation with the Mathematics for Machine Learning course first?

My eventual goal is to move into Deep Learning and Generative AI, but I want to build a solid foundation first without getting burnt out by pure theory early on.

For those of you who’ve gone through these:

  1. Is the math in Andrew Ng’s ML course self-contained enough for a beginner, or did you find yourself needing to pause and learn linear algebra/calculus elsewhere?

  2. Looking back, what exact sequence of DeepLearning.AI courses worked best for you?

Would love to hear how you approached this when you were starting out. Thanks!

For your goals, i do not recommend the Math for ML courses.

is there any time you would recommend the Math for ML course or its just not a good course in general.

My opinion.
It has some nice math, but little of it relates to machine learning. I do not much like the presentation, and there are lots of errors which have not been fixed.
