1-L condition condition lower limit

When 1-L continuous condition is explained it is said the slope/gradient should not be more than 1, which is upper limit and dose not speak about lower limit of slope. But when 1-L continuous condition is explained in graphical manner it is shown the function should fall in green area with upper and lower limit of 1 and -1 respectively.

I want to understand how the lower limit of -1 has been decided in this case?

Thank you

Hi Sairam!
Hope you are doing well. Good to see your daily progress in the course and I hope that you are enjoying it.

I thought that it would be easier for me to explain it using pen and paper rather than typing and I did so. Please don’t mind my handwriting.

Hopefully, this clears your doubt. If not, feel free to post your query.
Have a great day!
Regards,
Nithin
