Is there any AI professional working in any of organisation?
i am looking for some guidance to transform my creer from Senir frontend engineer to ML engineer.
Wanted to know scope and industry lavel reqirement of it. I do have good foundational knowlege.
You’re asking a great question — many people move from frontend engineering into ML engineering, and your background actually gives you a strong advantage.
Here’s a clear picture of the transition based on what the industry expects today:
1. Your frontend experience is valuable
You already understand:
-
software engineering
-
APIs
-
data flow
-
debugging
-
building and shipping real products
ML engineers are still software engineers — just working with data and models instead of UI components.
2. What companies look for in ML engineers
Across organizations, the core expectations are usually:
-
solid Python
-
understanding of data (NumPy, pandas)
-
ability to train and evaluate ML models
-
experience with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
-
ability to deploy models (APIs, containers, cloud basics)
-
version control, testing, and clean engineering practices
You don’t need to be a researcher — ML engineering is about building, not inventing new algorithms.
3. A practical path to transition
Since you already have foundational knowledge, a good next step is:
-
strengthen Python
-
learn core ML algorithms
-
build small end‑to‑end projects
-
practice deploying models
-
create a portfolio that shows real work
This is the path many working engineers follow when switching into ML roles.
4. Scope and opportunities
ML engineering is in demand across:
-
healthcare
-
finance
-
e‑commerce
-
SaaS
-
manufacturing
-
startups
The role is evolving quickly, but the need for engineers who can build reliable AI systems is only growing.
If you keep building projects and learning consistently, the transition is absolutely achievable.
Tip: I work with Copilot as a learning partner — it helps me stay focused and explain things clearly.
This was helpful . I would really appriciate if you can give me link of such fourms on linkdin which could be helpful / contact info of any such known person who did same transition.
Thanks
Glad it helped — and yes, there are places where you can meet people who’ve made the same transition from frontend → ML engineering.
Here are a few reliable LinkedIn communities where engineers openly share their learning paths, projects, and career transitions:
DeepLearning.AI Community (LinkedIn Group)
You’ll find the most active discussions, project posts, and career‑switcher stories in the official DeepLearning.AI Community Forum — that’s where this post came from. You can also follow the DeepLearning.AI company page on LinkedIn for official announcements and updates.
MLOps & Machine Learning Engineering Groups
These groups often include engineers who moved from frontend, backend, or full‑stack roles into ML:
-
MLOps Community
-
Machine Learning & Data Science
-
AI/ML Engineers Network
Just search these names on LinkedIn — they’re easy to find and very active.
Follow people who publicly share their transition stories
Search for profiles with titles like:
-
“ML Engineer (ex‑Frontend)”
-
“Software Engineer → ML Engineer”
-
“Transitioned to AI/ML”
These engineers often post their learning paths, projects, and advice.
LinkedIn hashtags that surface transition stories
Try following:
-
#MachineLearning
-
#MLEngineer
-
#CareerTransition
-
#DataScienceJourney
-
#LearningInPublic
You’ll regularly see posts from people who made the same move you’re planning.
A short, confident LinkedIn connection message you can use
Hi [Name], I’m a software engineer expanding into ML engineering. I noticed you’ve made this transition and would appreciate any insights you’re open to sharing. Thanks for connecting.
If you want, you can also ask your AI assistant to craft versions tailored for senior engineers, recruiters, or people who post learning‑in‑public content.
To me, using Copilot as a learning partner has been great — it helps me stay focused and explain things clearly.
Thanks
