Building an AI with emotional memory – is anyone working on this?

I’m exploring an idea for an assistant that doesn’t just react to emotions in the moment, but actually remembers how someone has felt over time and notices patterns (e.g., “You seem anxious every Sunday night before work”).

Looking for feedback, related research, or anyone interested in collaborating on a prototype. Curious if others here have thought about long-term emotional memory in AI.

Thoughts?

I have heard that emotions are just more subtle thoughts, and I think it’s correct!

Hey Gent, interesting point! I like the idea that emotions are subtle thoughts—makes sense when thinking about emotional memory in AI.

Basically, we’d need AI that remembers past conversations and picks up on emotional patterns over time. Some projects are already heading in that direction (companion bots, mental health apps), but the tricky part is making it feel genuine without being creepy.

Curious—are you thinking more about the tech side or the psychology behind it?

The psychological part of it, but I believe can be treated like thoughts, it should be ok!
