C4W3 Practice Lab: Lab not getting marked as completed. Attempting triage: AWS console url file is empty

I completed the steps in the lab and reached the end of the script where it says lab completed, and also read the part where it says “You don’t need to click on anything to submit this lab.” So I closed the lab and finished my session for the day. I returned today to Coursera to start where I stopped yesterday, and the first thing I see is the practice lab is marked as incomplete.

I’m not sure what actions I could possibly take to make the lab complete on Coursera since the lab page clearly says I shouldn’t have to do anything. But, I tried to open the lab anyway and see if I could set off any conditional changes through user input to queue whatever is responsible for sending the completion status to Coursera. That is where I found the AWS console URL file to do nothing and upon inspection the file is now empty. I tried updating the lab version and found the file still empty.

I would like to have this lab marked completed on Coursera. In the meantime, I guess I’ll proceed with the course.

Let me know whatever I need to do on my end to complete this task. Thanks.

If it’s a practice lab and it doesn’t require submission, it’s not required for completion of the course. If you still want it completed, it’s like with videos - you should reach the very end of it. But doesn’t matter for the course grades.

Hi. Please try this:

  • Launch the lab from Coursera. It will open a new tab with the lab.
  • Go back to the tab where you clicked the launch button. There should be a ‘Mark as completed’ button now beside the launch button.
  • Click that button. A green checkmark should appear beside the item on the left side bar.
