Designing a grounded handoff from meeting notes to AI agents with MCP

Hi everyone, I’m Ryan, a builder working on HyNote for Mac. I started it because taking notes during a meeting can pull attention away from the conversation, while a bot joining the call can feel intrusive.

HyNote captures Mac system audio and microphone audio without adding a meeting bot, then creates searchable transcripts. On supported setups, transcription can run on-device, and the “On This Mac” option keeps notes local.

I’m exploring what should happen after the meeting. Through MCP, HyNote notes can be connected to ChatGPT or a compatible agent. I can use that meeting context to clarify decisions, organize action items into a plan, and ask the agent to guide the next work. The hard part is keeping the agent grounded in what was actually said while making privacy boundaries clear.

For people building AI tools: what helps you trust an agent’s follow-up work? Should each recommendation link back to transcript passages, surface uncertainty, or require approval before changing anything? I’d appreciate feedback on the workflow.

HyNote for Mac requires macOS 14 or later; local AI features additionally require Apple silicon, macOS 26.4 or later, and Apple Intelligence. Project details: Free Meeting Recorder & AI Transcription

Approval before changing anything would do the most for my trust in this handoff, with transcript citations supporting the proposal rather than authorizing it. A meeting statement can explain why a change makes sense without giving the agent permission to make it.

For example, if someone says “let’s move the deadline to Friday,” I’d want a preview showing the cited passage, the task being changed, and its current and proposed due dates. The actual update should stay blocked until I approve that specific change.
