Why don’t we use the Machine translation architecture for the name entity recognition task. That way we could have the whole input sentence and the uni-directional problem could be solved.

In the course, named entity recognition is only used as a pedagogical tool to understand what RNNs do. In practice, you could use more advanced methods including those described in subsequent lectures of this course.
