If you are new to AI, my journey might make sense

I’m not an expert in this domain, but whatever I’ve learned so far, I’m happy to share — maybe it will help you choose your own path in AI.

I’m a self-taught programmer and have always been curious about AI. I started my journey by watching Irfan Malik’s AI course. After gaining some foundational knowledge, I decided to learn Python from scratch — not because I couldn’t code, but because I wanted to build confidence in the language. I noticed almost every AI course I took used Python, especially those taught by international instructors.

During that time, I also experimented with no-code tools and built some small chatbots. But honestly, I got bored. As someone with a programming background, using no-code tools felt a bit dull. So I started searching for something deeper.

That’s when I came across Machine Learning. I wanted to dive into it, but I quickly realized that ML required a completely different mindset from what I was used to as a full-stack developer. While working with data is amazing, I personally love the engineering side of things. Instead of going deep into data, I found more interest in using LLMs to build practical tools.

That’s when I discovered RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) — and it felt like the perfect fit. I used RAG to build an AI agent for my own business.I am still working on it, soon will share it with you. The RAG pathway connected well with both my technical background and my desire to build something meaningful for a specific community, instead of just training models and playing with datasets.
Right now, I’m enrolled in the RAG course by DeepLearning.ai and actively learning.

My advice to other devs like me:
:white_check_mark: Start with basic AI concepts — ideally in your native language
:white_check_mark: Explore no-code tools like n8n to prototype
:white_check_mark: Don’t say “I’m a full-stack dev — how can I use no-code?”
:door: It opens the door to more possibilities.

If you get bored, no worries — switch paths. But at least you tried something new.

 Confused about where to start with AI as a developer?

I have taken AI for everyone course. I don’t know anything in AI/ML technical domain, but I want to actively build practical AI agents. And I do have software and product management background. Maybe I can start contributing more on user/business side.
