Title: Limitations of ChatGPT Canvas for Long Document Editing
Hello Community,
I’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT Canvas for editing long documents, and I’ve encountered some challenges. I’m curious if others have faced similar issues or found better solutions.
Issues Encountered:
- Limited Document Size:
- When I upload a long document (around 20 pages) into Canvas, the AI seems to shorten the document significantly after my first request.
- It appears that Canvas can handle only about 2-3 pages of text effectively.
Workaround I Tried:
- I upload the entire document to ChatGPT, but only open the first part in Canvas.
- After editing the first part, I ask ChatGPT to open the next section, continuing this process until the entire document is reviewed.
Concerns:
- Context Retention:
- I’m unsure whether ChatGPT retains context from the earlier sections when I move to editing later parts.
- There’s no clear indication if the AI can keep the entire document in memory throughout the editing process.
Questions for the Community:
- Have you experienced similar limitations with Canvas?
- Do you know if there’s a way to ensure context retention when editing long documents in parts?
- Any tips or alternative workflows you’ve found effective?
Thank you in advance for your insights!
