Mistake in Jazz Improvisation Programming assignment

In the Jazz Improvisation with LSTM programming assignment there is an error which should be corrected.

See attached screenshot…

It would help if you could explain in more detail what the mistake is there. Is it the fact that the word reordered is in bold font?

No it’s about how Y is equal to X but shifted one step left towards the past so that

Y was equal to X of t minus 1

but I thought

Y was equal to X of t plus 1

as the LSTM cell is trying to predict the next musical value in the sequence.

Thanks for the clarification. They do show in the image that’s just below that section that you are right that:

y^{<t>} = x^{<t+1>}

Yes, I guess you can consider that kind of ambiguous wording, but think of it this way:

Take the X sequence x^{<1>}, x^{<2>}, ... , x^{<t>} and then “slide it to the left by one position” and you get Y. Of course you have to drop the first element of X, but then you end up with what they mean by the Y sequence. That’s what they mean by that statement.

It’s wrong and needs correcting. I’m paying for this course and it should not have any errors in it.
