I’m doing a little research on open weighted models this morning and I just want to ask the board how would you create a certain model to train on something specific like reporting the weather or giving sports reports? Is there an easy way to do this or is it more complicated engineering wise? I’ve been working on an AI news service idea and I just wanted to ask the AI engineers here how feasible such a project would be.
I guess the other question that I have is what are the dangers of making open weighted models widely available? I’m probably going to include that in my next Substack paper but I wanted to ask some humans too and just wondering if there is any legal case or legislation being proposed to ban open weight models. I assume they are good for the competitive spirit of entrepreneurship because they allow innovation, but that there is also the danger of them being used to make WMDs and particularly spying by foreign governments which is a topic that it seems few in the AI community discuss among other issues. Thoughts?
