The definition says style of image means correlation between activations across channels but what is the advantage behind correlation ? what does it actually captures ? Is it combining different features like edges and colours of image ?
Ummmm, it is capturing correlation. That is a mathematical expression of the similarity or lack thereof between two distributions. It’s using whatever is in the images, it could be edges if there are lots of edges or whatever other features there are in the images. Of course it’s based on color: what else is there in an image?
