The auto grader is having an unexpected error in Course 3 Module 3 for the graded assignment

For the graded assignment in Course 3, Module 3 for Data Analytics course, I am getting the following error. The autograder is unable to grade though i have got the correct output.

Could you try to restart and re-run all the cells in sequence, and then hit Save before re-submit it again?

For Graded Cell exercise 2, ensure you don’t remove # headings (GRADED CELL, START CODE, END CODE)

# GRADED CELL: Exercise 2

# extract the measurements for the Burdekin River
bur13_measurements = measurements[measurements["STATION_ID"] == "BUR13"]

plt.figure()

### START CODE HERE ###

### END CODE HERE ###
plt.show()

One other thing is to check whether you use on chl_ntu_scatter either a ā€˜scatterplot()’ from matplotlib or ā€˜.plot.scatter()’ from Pandas.

Please also check that you didn’t rename any variable from the boilerplate. That’s one of the usual culprits for that error message. The grader should find the expected variable in your solution. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I followed all the steps as suggested. Restarted the kernel. Cleared all outputs and Ran all the code. Saved the file. Same error!

I changed to plot.scatter() to scatterplot(), yet the same issue. The autograder seems to have an unexpected error!

Ok will look into this and let you know later today. Feel free to move on to the next part of the course in the meantime. Thank you.

Hi! As mentioned in the extra hints (i.e. red bar) for Exercise 2, please use plt.scatter() instead of sns.scatterplot(). You can also see the expected arguments in the said hints. After that, you should get the perfect score. We’ll look into updating the grader to give a more helpful feedback next time. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I changed the code as per the advise. However, the outcome has been the same. The autograder is having issues.

Hi. A few more corrections:

  • As mentioned in the first hints (blue bar), please store the scatter plot in a variable named chl_ntu_scatter.
  • Make sure you have set each of the arguments mentioned in the extra hints: x, y, s, marker, color, alpha.
  • Use the bur13_measurements defined up top when setting the values for x and y.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the guidance. I went through the code step by step. Ensured the variable chl_ntu_scatter is storing the scatter plot. All parameters x,yz,s,marker,color, alpha are used. bur13_measurements used to define x and y.
Restarted the kernel. Cleared all outputs. Re-run all the cells. All outputs were obtained. Even excecise 2 has the same output as expected.

However, the outcome is still the same that the auto grader encounters an unexpected error!

Hi. Just one more thing. Make sure to use squares for ā€œmarkerā€ instead of circles as mentioned in the directions. In any case, we can also improve the grader to catch this better and give more concrete feedback.

Bingo! You caught it. Indeed the marker was not set to squares. My bad. i Missed to see that. Now the autograder is working fine. Super. Thanks a lot for all the help and support.

Great! Glad to hear that. Thank you for bringing this to our attention as well. Noting it down for future updates. Will close this topic now.
