Use of np.vstack([x])

Can you brief me what this does in this context as I tried without this command it worked properly,
this is used while we preprocess the uploaded image for testing purpose

Could you please help me what is the purpose of adding an additional axis in the array via
x = np.expand_dims(x, axis=0), and what is the purpose of using the np.vstack() function .
