Why we didn’t use a dev set in this two assignments in the week1?, We only used train&test .

Let’s consider the 2nd assignment in week 1 course 2 (convolution model application).
There’s no model selection / hyperparameter tuning activity. So, is there a good reason for needing a dev test?
