What is a role and what are the possible roles?

In the “Exploring LLM capabilities” lab, in the “generate_with_multiple_input” function, I don’t understand (1) what a “role” is, (2) what are the possible roles and (3) how those roles are actually passed onto the LLM

In this course a “role” I think it refers to lets say the profession of the specialist answering the questions, for example you may choose the role to be a “an expert in data engineering” that the LLM takes to answer the questions!
