… Robotics is nowhere that good yet. More precisely I think it alters both our access to and solutions of major problems. While it was always somewhat clear this was the case, it has now become apparent that there are some problems that are just too large or complex to be stored or solved in any one person’s head [or even a team of such experts]. Yes, there is still all the ‘really basic’ stuff we as humans do much better by nature-- but somewhere down the line there will have to be a ‘leap of faith’, or even better, a refined understanding of how to implement guardrails, even if in the end we might never understand the solution, to ensure we can have a level of confidence in the outcome. I am not sure we are there yet. It is a tool, but at that, one that in some ways exceeds our innate limitations when looking at certain problems. I think it would be silly not to try and make use of it, if nothing else than to at least ‘enhance’ decision making and explore outcomes)
