Where does z = wx+b? Any tips is appreciated.

In this screenshot, the sigmoid function has been generalized by only showing z as an exponent of e. The equality z=wx+b implies that the linear regression function is to be substituted for z in order to calculate the output of a sigmoid node/output as logistical form.
