AI for corporate carbon neutrality?

Found this company mentioned online and thought it worth sharing. Don’t know anything about how they are using AI, and this is not an endorsement. Will do more digging and see what I can find out…

Remarkably little detail available from this company. Their AI tech is described as ‘proprietary’ and of the 17 employees with profiles on LinkedIn, only 1 seems to have hands-on experience developing machine learning solutions. Here is a white paper from the founder and CEO which is mostly handwaving generalizations: AI can potentially stimulate global climate change action | World Economic Forum

Maybe it can at least help community members think about how the tools learned in these classes might be applied in this domain.

A friend of mine is on the board of Sky Truth, which is a company that uses satellite imagery to detect and understand environmental issues. They’ve been around for more than 20 years at this point, so most of their earlier work was not ML-based, but they are now actively applying ML to these issues. Here’s an article on their site that traces the history of their activities. Here’s an article about one of their more recent projects that is ML based.

Thanks for sharing, @ai_curious and @paulinpaloalto! Sounds super interesting.

I recently saw this new announced specialization: AI for Good Specialization - DeepLearning.AI

This one reminded me also of the companies’ vision you outlined in your posts. Gonna be exciting to see more activities in the field of decarbonisation and environment protection, using data analytics.

Best regards
Christian

Thanks for sharing! I found this post while looking for sustainable solutions to address the carbon footprint of Generative AI, like ChatGPT.

I was reading the study linked in this article and got scared by how little availability in terms of water consumption and use of natural resources is out there when we talk about AI…
