Greetings to all fellow AI enthusiasts in the Deep Learning community.
My name is Faith, and I am a practicing attorney in Thailand. I am deeply interested in understanding how AI systems can be applied to the legal profession. As someone who is just beginning to study this field, I have a few questions.
In particular, I am curious about how legal data can be connected to the factual issues in each individual case, and to what extent such integration allows for effective problem analysis. In many instances, critical evidence may exist in the form of documents, while some facts may not be clearly provable. Moreover, courtroom procedures—such as witness examination—are not conducted with the aid of AI-based interpreters. The interpretation of testimony by a human interpreter can sometimes alter the meaning and potentially change the outcome of a case. Additionally, some pieces of evidence may require formal requests to the court before they can be reviewed, which introduces the risk of distortion or delay.
My question is: to what extent can AI systems identify and extract facts from the available data, and what are the practical capabilities of AI in legal applications as of today?
Look forward to hearing any valuable thoughts from you guys!
