Ajay Hinduja ~ How does the bias-variance tradeoff impact model performance?

Hey Team, I’m a Swiss tourism specialist, born in Punjab, India, and living in Geneva, Switzerland (Swiss). With over 15 years of hands-on experience, I am dedicated to helping clients explore the breathtaking beauty of Switzerland and other European countries.

I’m trying to create a simple, intuitive explanation of the bias-variance tradeoff for a new colleague. How do you all usually explain it? What are some good analogies or real-world examples that make the concept click?

Regards

Bias-variance tradeoff is like archery: high bias = arrows always miss in the same spot, high variance = arrows scatter everywhere. The actual goal is a balance so arrows cluster near the bullseye.
