Batch injection Vs Streaming injection

In the lesson on data “Ingestion,” the professor highlights two methods: batch ingestion and streaming ingestion. Would it be correct to say that batch ingestion is “discrete” data ingestion, and streaming ingestion is “continuous” data ingestion? Mathematically speaking.

I do not think “discrete” is the best concept for this.

I think rather the concepts are “batch” and “stochastic”, where the model can be computed based on entire set of data examples, vs. the model being updated for each individual example.

@bauklotze when I was listening to that lecture, I was also thinking about “discrete” vs “continuous”, as we talk about ingestion
With all respect to @TMosh

It’s possible. But I believe that as the course progresses, I will gradually solidify this knowledge. Thank you all for your attention and patience in clarifying our doubts and considerations.

I believe this concept discrete comes from an engineering background, specifically electronics engineering. I don’t think it’s exactly the same concept, though. I’m an engineer myself, with a background in electronics engineering.
