Beginner Seeking Guidance: Best Coursera Courses for Generative AI & Prompt Engineering?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the world of Generative AI and Prompt Engineering and feeling really excited (and a little overwhelmed) by the possibilities this field offers. I come from a non-technical background and recently completed my MBA, so while I’m highly motivated to learn, my current budget is quite limited after paying for grad school.

I’m hoping to pivot into a career that involves working with generative AI tools like ChatGPT, image generators, or building simple AI-powered apps. I’m especially interested in Prompt Engineering, as it seems like a skill that could help me get started quickly and build confidence.

My question is: Which Coursera courses would you recommend to someone who is just starting and wants to eventually work in Generative AI and Prompt Engineering?

Any suggestions especially beginner-friendly, practical, and affordable ones would be deeply appreciated.

There are quite a few courses on generative AI for free in this platform, but I am not sure if they are at a beginners level.

Personally I opted for learning the basics first and then the higher abstractions.

So you can get a free year of edX with a Verizon partnership and there is a decent course from IBM on Prompt Engineering.
