Beginner seeking guidance

Hello World!

I am a complete beginner in AI space. I have a non-technical background and i know little about programming. But recent advances in AI and the fact i was looking to change paths in career lead me here.

I have started AI for everyone by Andrew Ng and looking to get into AI/Data science/ ML. But there’s so much information online that i feel overwhelmed where to begin and how to proceed.

It would really help if experts here guide me how to proceed and how to select a path. I mean i try to listen bout ML data science AI etc and all these seem very interesting but i get confused and want a guided approach.

Should i start taking Andrews courses one by one or is there a better approach?

Given that you say you “want to get into AI/Data science/ML”:

After you complete AI for Everyone, I recommend this:

  • Attend a course on the fundamentals of Python programming.
  • Enroll in the Machine Learning Specialization on Coursera.
  • Enroll in the Deep Learning Specialization on Coursera.

That will give you a broad background in the essential techniques.

For light-duty tasks, probably yes. It depends on who is doing the hiring, and how difficult their task is.

But be aware there are tens of thousands of people world-wide who have attended those introductory and intermediate courses already.

understandable, so where do we go from there. i mean i am trying to build a roadmap in my mind to prepare for whats next. So do i need to look into some other courses after that or do i work on some projects to build my experience?

Once you clear the Deep Learning Specialization, you’ll be ready to tackle other areas of focus, like generative AI, large language models, computer vision, etc.

Sorry, I avoid giving specific career advice.
