S + Z = 2CD

which means

S + Z - 2CD = 260

This question tests your ability to construct equations from text description. I can’t tell you what equations you should be able to construct, but you may start from letting x, y, and z be the money you put into the savings a/c, CD, and bonds respectively, then try to come up with some equations from the text.

If you are able to construct some equations, then you can see if you can solve them to get z.
