The notebook has a frequent error : “Permission denied: release/W3A1/Planar_data_classification_with_one_hidden_layer.ipynb”. At the end, the notebook cannot be submitted at all. I can’t save to other names or download a copy because of this error. Now waiting for help online.
Hello @sunnycss!
Several learners facing this issue. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience but request you to wait for a while. We informed the course staff to look into the issue as soon as possible.
Your patience will be highly appreciated. Once they resolve the issue, we will inform you.
Best,
Saif.
Are similar problems occurring with W4A1 and W4A2?
I get a Permisiion denied and cannot submit the assignment as shown in the image below.
Is this the same problem?
The above question is for @saifkhanengr
This problem is occurring on every course of Coursera. But the staff is looking into the issue.
Your patience will be highly appreciated. Once they resolve the issue, we will inform you.
Best,
Saif.
I have the same problem, please inform me when the problem is solved.
Thank you
Best

We will inform you, Giuseppina.
Best,
Saif.
Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay.
Kindly try this:
- From the blank notebook, click
File -> Open
. - Tick the running notebook.
- Click
Shutdown
thenDuplicate
. - Rename the old notebook (any filename).
- Rename the duplicate with the original filename (basically, just remove the
-Copy1
string). - Open this newly renamed notebook.
- You should be able to save this and also see the submit button after a minute.
You “might see an error about checkpoints failing. I think that’s okay because that’s related to the permissions of the hidden .ipynb_checkpoints
folder. That is not needed for grading as far as I know. The changes should persist in the actual notebook itself even if they see that error. I submitted the notebook and got the expected grade.”

We informed the course staff about Duplicate failed. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience.

@saifkhanengr I am facing the same problem.

Hi,
We already informed the Coursera staff about it and waiting to hear from them. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience. Please wait for a while.
Meanwhile, you can try this temporary hack but it worked for some and didn’t work for others.

Best,
Saif.
I have the same problem. Persmission denied in W3A1 lab and workaround doesn’t work for me too
@Arthur_Halouchyk, please follow the instructions in this post.

I am facing the same issue, is the problem resolved yet?
Hi, folks!
If this temporary hack didn’t work for you, kindly refer to that post. You will need to submit your info as mentioned there.
Best,
Saif.
Thank you for the frequent updates. Please keep us posted on an ETA of a permanent resolution.
If you have an alternative temporary solution to posting in the other thread, please let me know, as the thread requires sharing email. The profile page clearly states that the Coursera email is “never shared with the public”.
You could share your data with @Mubsi by a direct message. Your data will be saved and won’t be shared publicly.
Best,
Saif.
I have the same issue every time I try to save or submit my assignment I got the message permission denied.
HI @noggy8585
Many learners told us that this workaround can help them get a new copy of assignment that has the permission to save work and submit work as usual. This is something you could try to keep moving on.
