Generate Ai, mathematics, Front end developpement, cloud computing

Good day everyone, I just started learning GenAi and I have being seeing people post about maths relating to it and it’s getting me scared as I don’t know maths right from school so I’m confused wether to continue as it might become too hard for me or to live it and go for front end development or cloud computing. Please any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It depends entirely on what your personal goals are.

If you want to invent entirely new Gen AI methods, then you need the math background.

If you want to use existing Gen AI tools to create new models, you don’t need much math.

Example: You don’t need to know how a hammer is made in order to build a house.

Hi Tmosh, i always did well in math. What subjects should I study in order to be able to create new AI methods, or at least understand, at a deeper level, what is going on?

Minimizing a cost function requires partial derivatives, so you need a couple of semesters of calculus.

Mathematically manipulating a large dataset uses a lot of matrix algebra, so that’s typically a linear algebra course.
