I don’t know the real answer. It’s possible that the video has been edited. But it doesn’t really matter: just treat it as if he said “for purposes of this example, we are using this function”.

Totally, that’s what I did. Just wanted to let folks know in case that was accidental, that the lead in was accidentally lost.
