When trying to complete Lab 2 (“Fine-tune a generative AI model for dialogue summarization”), the Amazon SageMaker landing page I am directed to is not the same as the one shown in the lab walkthrough/instructions. In particular, I do not have the “Open Launcher” option that is required to proceed, and I am not able to open the terminal in Amazon SageMaker. Is anyone else directed to this type of home page in Amazon SageMaker, and if so, how can I get the “Open Launcher” option to proceed with the lab? Thanks!
I have exactly the same problem! Actually, I see for like half a second the correct page (with the “Open Launcher” option), but then it immediately redirect me to the other page without the option to “Open Launcher”. I’ve spent quite some time troubleshooting this, but there is nothing I can do on my end.
@chris.favila, can you investigate this?
Did you try changing browser?
Sometimes cleaning cache and browsing history also helps.
The last resort is filling a form which will be available in FAQ section of Generative AI with Large Language Models Resources section @AnaStaiko

Hi everyone! Thank you for reporting this. Can you post a screenshot of the pages you’re referring to? Please post the entire page. It should show voclabs/user....
at the upper right. So far, I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue. My hunch is you might have inadvertently switched to your personal AWS accounts so you’re redirected to the new UI. That has happened before. Please make sure to log out of all personal AWS accounts before launching the lab from your classroom.
Nonetheless, I’ll confirm with our partners if the labs here are not affected by the automatic migration to the new Sagemaker UI.
In the new SageMaker UI I see 6 available apps on the left side pane. I chose the “Studio Classic”, and then created a new workspace. No I see the old UI with the “Open Launcher” and then “System Terminal”. I hope it works fine from this point.
Please look into this. Need to get unblocked on this to complete course.
Getting “ValidationException: Unable to create Space [arn:aws:sagemaker:us-east-1:461713308513:space/d-fxhdtuemi9ea/lab2] because DefaultSpaceSettings does not exist for Domain [arn:aws:sagemaker:us-east-1:461713308513:domain/d-fxhdtuemi9ea].” when trying to create studio classic workspace
Hi Bikram. Sorry for the trouble and thank you for reporting. We just escalated this to our partners. Will update this thread asap. In the meantime, can you post a full window screenshot with the error you’re seeing? I tried it in my workspace and could access Studio Classic successfully.
