Do we not actually get to write any code ourselves in the labs? Because it seems like all of it is already done for us, we just have to read the instructions and run the cells, and maybe mess around with a few parameters or change some things…
Dear @GoldenGoat101,
Welcome to the Community!
Could you please share the name or module of the lab you’re referring to? That will help me provide a more accurate response regarding the coding expectations and level of hands-on involvement.
Hi,
Apologies, the lab I’m referring to is “Lab 1 - Generative AI Use Case: Summarize Dialogue”, in the Week 1 of the course “Generative AI with Large Language Models”
Dear @GoldenGoat101,
The lab instructions can be found at the following link:
Lab Instructions – Vocareum
Please follow the instructions provided there.
Once the lab has started, proceed with the steps outlined in the Lab_1_summarize_dialogue.ipynb
notebook.
Pay special attention to the “Exercise” sections — follow the instructions carefully and observe the results closely.
This lab is designed to help you understand the step-by-step process involved in dialogue summarization.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I’m not a mentor for this course.
But in general, courses tend to have two different types of labs.
- There are labs that demonstrate some specific methods. Sometimes these are labeled as “optional labs”.
- There are labs that require you to write some code and submit it for grading. Sometimes these are called “practice labs”. These are only available if you have a paid course subscription. Often, Week 1 of a course will not have any practice labs.
The exact terminology tends to vary a lot between courses.
