Professional in the Microsoft ERP/CRM/Modern Work Partner Network Seeking to Connect and Learn

Hello, I’m Kyle Burges, a Senior Manager at a Microsoft Business Applications consulting partner based in Cleveland, OH. My expertise lies in technology selection / improvement and optimizing core technical business processes, and I hold several certifications in continuous improvement, agile methodologies, and change management. My primary focus is on helping organizations enhance their operations, embrace digital transformation, and leverage AI and automation to work more efficiently. Currently, I am exploring mentorship opportunities and considering new career paths to further my professional development.

My consulting work revolves around business operations, particularly process reengineering and implementing Microsoft Applications. Lately, I’ve been deeply interested in ERP and CRM deployments—specifically, how businesses can implement these systems to boost efficiency and strengthen customer relationships. With platforms like Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Azure AI, there’s a wealth of tools available to automate workflows, extract meaningful insights, and scale operations effectively. However, successful implementations often come with challenges such as stakeholder alignment, scope management, and ensuring long-term adaptability.

I’m curious to learn how others approach aligning ERP or CRM solutions with organizational goals while addressing hurdles like customization, costs, and user adoption. What strategies have you found effective in overcoming these challenges?

Let’s connect and exchange ideas—I’m always eager to discuss how technology can drive business innovation and explore potential opportunities for collaboration.

Hey Kyle! So jealous of your position. Requirements gathering, mapping current process, building a strategy, working with users - all fun stuff and must be really rewarding to go in and provide meaningful enablement.

What’s interesting / frustrating to me is there always seems to be a reluctance to take on new process while implementing a new system. There is always a desire to simply learn how to do what you do today on the new tool and think about how to use to the tool to improve later (if at all). But real world, later tooo often never really comes. Once the new tool is in place doing just what you were doing previously, people’s time gets redirected, the cross functional drive and support dissipates and the in depth expertise leaves with the consultants.

I suppose it’s a function of trying to control scope creep during the project and failing to achieve long term adaptability. A lot must count on how many pioneering types the business has and what kind of exposure they’re given to possibilities?

Anyway, sounds like a potentially interesting conversation, so thought I’d say hello.
