I would like to know the name of the feature extraction algorithm used in week one. And how good is this approach in real life scenarios?

Hi Mauricio_Toro,

It looks like a simplification of countvectorizer. See, e.g. this post. Using this makes the feature extraction process easy to understand, and it is therefore useful as a pedagogical tool to introduce the feature extraction process. But it is not always as efficient as other methods.
