Week 1 timeout - cannot submit

Week 1 Lab timed out - now I cannot submit
First the AWS did not start for about 20 min which counted against my time in the lab. Then the lab ran into an error because it did not indcate that it was still installing dependencies but literally said to restart the kernel. It took the majority of my lab time to find someone in the forum with a similar problem and figure out how to resolve it. At that point I only had a small window of time left to complete the lab - which is not enjoyable. I rushed through the lab and at the end decided to save the workbook for future review (recommended in step 16). While I was saving the workbook, AWS ran out of time against the 2 hour limit and shut down my instance. I then clicked the “submit” button as recommended and it said that I cannot submit unless the AWS lab instance is running. Seriously? What do I do now? How can I submit the half-baked lab that the system forced me to rush through? I did pay for the course and it seems reasonable to expect to be given 1) enough support to resolve issues in a timely manner and 2) time to complete the lab without having time taken away by a lab process that is faulty. Please help!

Hello, I am not the one who manages or created these Labs, but if it helps you, you can take a second run on the Lab (though you might have to wait again) if your subscription is still active.

Yes! Thank you. I was able to run the lab again, and this time I knew how to navigate the temperamental nature of the lab environment - lol. And “submit” worked at the end.

Dear @tedtyree,

Welcome to the community!

Sounds good. Hope your problem has been resolved?

Yes it has - thank you. It might be good to let the students know in the documentation that they can restart a lab if the 2 hours expire.

Regards,
