Week 4 Assignment Grader Error – No notebook was found in submission directory

Hello mentors,

I am enrolled in the course
“Natural Language Processing with Classification and Vector Spaces”.

In the Week 4 programming assignment, I get this error while submitting:
“No notebook was found in the submission directory.”

Notebook name: C1_W4_Assignment.ipynb

I have already tried:

  • Get latest version
  • Restart & Run All
  • Correct notebook name and default folder

The issue still persists and seems to be a grader sync/path issue.

Kindly help to reset the lab or guide me on how to fix this.

Are you sure that you are using the Deep Learning Platform for this and not Coursera? I just took a look and I can’t find the NLP Specialization on the DLAI platform.

The course staff say that NLP has not yet been released on the new DLAI LP, but they are working on it.

FWIW I checked my version of the C1 W4 assignment on NLP on Coursera and everything seems to work fine.

Ok, I will change the tag in this thread to refer to Coursera.

So what i do next ?

Try deleting or renaming the Lab file and then “Get Latest Version”. Hopefully the new version is recognisable by the grader!

I have do this command like desert kernel then run, version update and patheti and file name is default and proper correct but I have one first time successfully submit and score few points remaining that why I failed then I try other attempt then I pass all the test then I submit lab second time show me this error i mention above i try all thing but same error

Please show us a screenshot of the actual error you are getting from the grader. When you do that please make sure to click any “down arrows” on “Show grader output”, so that we can see as much information as possible.

Your wording in the previous post is pretty confusing. Maybe it would be better if you stated it in your native language and then we could use Google Translate to get a version in English that is more clear. What do “desert kernel” and “patheti” mean? Those do not make sense to me in English.

this is my error and desert kernel sorry my mistake i have reply in phone so in my phone no include restart kernal then enter space then chnage spelling so i apologize

I have never seen that particular error before. My theory would have to be that you have somehow renamed your notebook. Maybe one way to get more information would be if you could show us a screenshot of the browser tab that has the first page of the notebook. Here’s what it looks like for me:

So one thing you can see from that is that the filename of the notebook is C1_W4_Assignment.ipynb. What does your version of that page look like?

Same file as you written but same error raised

It would still be worth seeing your screenshot. Maybe there is some detail there that would give us a clue about what is different in your case.

Oh, wait. I submitted my version of that notebook a couple of times yesterday and I got the same error you are reporting:

So maybe this is just some kind of problem on the servers. I just submitted again twice and the first time I got full marks, the second time I again got that error about “No notebook in the submission directory” on 3 of the functions.

This must be some kind of flaky problem on the servers. I will report this to the course staff right away and hope that they can take a look. Sorry!

1 time I received 70 marks in coursera this assignment then I resubmit same error “no notebook found” then I try again 31 Jan same error so what i do? Can I give my cousera id pass so access you and solve if possible.how much time to solve this error ?

I can reproduce the problem as well, so we just need the course staff to investigate. Please stay tuned. I will report back if I hear any news from them.

I just tried submitting the C1 W2 assignment (Naive Bayes) and I get the same “No notebook found” behavior.

So this is a general problem with the NLP C1 graders.
