A query about displaying latex in new line

Hello,

I found that the behavior has changed to that it now automatically displays each latex in a new line:

(My view below, link to the post)

Previously it wouldn’t change to a new line automatically.

Does anyone see also this behavior change? If so, is that a permanent feature change? If so, how can I set some of my latexes to not display in a new line?

Thanks,
Raymond

Yes! I just noticed that change in behavior today as well. I have not tried to investigate. FWIW, I’m using Chome on MacOS. I just checked FireFox and Safari and see the exact same behavior there, so it’s not a browser issue.

Thanks! Same behavior with Chrome on Windows 11, and Chrome on Android.

We should tag @mubsi and @giovanni.lignarolo, so they can check if there was recently a software “upgrade” on their Discourse instance. If so, that’s the place to look for the problem.

Hi @paulinpaloalto & @rmwkwok,

Thanks for letting us know. I see it has already been reported to the team.

Cheers,

Hi everyone! The issue should now be fixed. Here’s a test: f_{w, b}(x) = wx + b . Thanks!

Wooohooo! I was really worried there after Mubsi pointed out that they claimed to have made that change on purpose from the Discourse side. So glad you were able to convince them of the error of their ways.

Whew! We ducked a bullet there for sure.
