Access to the online course materials and cancellation of my subscription

Hello all,

I have successfully completed the entire specialization and I have two concerns now.

  1. How do I cancel my subscription to avoid automatic retrieval from my bank account?

  2. Do I still have access to the course materials after my subscription have been cancelled?

Hi @Bertrand_T_Tameza ,

If you have successfully completed the course before your subscription’s expiry date, your bank account will not be charged because the system has recorded the course is finished.

You will have no access to the course materials, specifically, the graded assignments if you don’t have a valid subscription. If you want to keep a copy of all the files, you can download them to your PC. To do that, on the menu bar, click file → open, select the file you want to download, and click the download button.

Thank you for responding. I can’t see a menu bar on the course page. Are you referring to the menu bar on the programing assignment notebooks page?

I am not sure about how the subscription works. The mentors don’t have to deal with that part of Coursera. If I had to guess, I would bet that Coursera will not automatically stop charging you and that you have to take action to explicitly stop the payments. This kind of information must be available on the Coursera website or on the course website. Try clicking “Course Information” on the left panel of any of the course pages.

But the one thing I do know for sure is that (as Kic said above) once you stop paying, you will no longer be able to see your assignments on the course website. If you care about that, you must download them manually before you stop paying. That is all discussed in detail on the FAQ Thread, q.v.

If I do understand correctly, when the specialization is done, we still have access to lecture videos even after the auto cancellation has occurred, am I correct?

But no more access to quizzes and programming assignments.

Does anyone know if we still have access to the lecture videos after the cancellation has ocurred?
I couldn’t find any information about this. However, I came across this response from 3 years ago and would like to know if this policy has changed since then.

The lecture videos are visible in “audit” mode, meaning that you are registered for the course, but not paying for it. So you should still be able to view the lectures even after your active subscription for the course is cancelled. Please let us know if that doesn’t happen for you. That’s the way it’s always worked and (at least as far as I know) nothing has changed in that respect.
