C1 W3 Assignment: grading error

keep getting grading error, saying I should check stderr

Hi @Lundi_Mlanduli,

At the start of the start of the assignment there is a note, “Important Note on Autograder”, please make sure you are not doing any of those listed 5 points.

Hi Mubsi

Can I perhaps get a new notebook, without any of my saved input.

Thanks
Lundi

Hi @Lundi_Mlanduli,

Of course, you can do so by following these instructions.

@Mubsi I have the same problem, it tells me to check stderr even though all outputs gives me “All tests passed” !

@Mubsi Same here. My functions passed all the tests but I got ‘Check stderr’ warning

hello sir,
i have followed all the instruction and have also pass all the test. all my output matched with the expected output. but i am not getting a grade for 2 exercise namely test_get_country and test_get_accuracy. it is wriiten in grading section as “There was a problem grading your submission. Check stderr for more details.”
And also i have tried with new notebook reloading still the same.
please help with this.

Hi @Huda_Mohammed_Alamri,
Can you elaborate the query and share the Lab id. You can get it by first opening the notebook, and then clicking on the Help section.
Also just try restarting the kernel and then running the cells.

Sorry, I forgot to mention here but I solved the issue a few days ago. Restarting kernel did not work but my mistake was about using global variables instead of local ones in UNQ_C3. Solving this also solved the problem of UNQ_C4 automatically. Hope that will help others, as well.

@ARNAV_GUPTA1 Hi! I got the same issue. My lab id is ‘awerqsst’. Could you please help me to check what the problem is? Many thanks!

@YL98

city1, country1, city2, embeddings, cosine_similarity these are the local variables in UNQ_C3
check you are using only these local variables and not global variables.
There is a chance you are using word_embeddings instead of embeddings or some other global variable.

Hi all,

As @ARNAV_GUPTA1 mentioned, the errors you mentioned are related to not following the points mentioned in “Important Notes on Submission”, which is at the top of every assignment.

Kindly make sure you are not doing any of those mentioned 5 points.

Best,
Mubsi

Hi!, I got the same error, but it was solved restarting coursera lab in order to remove modifications or prints in the cells, after that i filled the assigment trying not to modity the cells, and the gradding error disappeared. If you want to restart all the lab files, you just have to click in the top left corner “file>open”,and delete the assigment_w3 or other files to wipe them (try to save the notebook before remove to keep your solutions, file>save as>. ipynb, or just change the name of the file). Then in the top right corner, click on Help, and click on “update to the latest version” or “restart”. After that, just be careful and try to modify the cells as little as possible. Good luck guys!

I got same error and followed the instructions to restart the test, still test not passed (the five points mentioned are met)

Thanks for the help!! This was indeed the issue

Like everyone else here, I came in order to complain about the grader. But instead, it’d like to thank for pointing the exact error I had with the word_embeddings variable. Thank you very much

I got similar issue and caused by word_embeddings. Given it is not obvious and take time until find this post, is it possible to improve the error message and hint this on submission.

This is the problem.
