I’m having the exact same problem.
All my unit tests pass and I all the plot outputs look great. The code is 100% correct, but my grade is 0%. I am also getting the same message: “The latest version is 2 and you are on version 1.”
My final plot looks like this:
I’ve backed up my old notebook under a new name. Thrown away the old one. Clicked “Get latest version” under “Lab help”. I got a new notebook under the old name. I could not detect any difference with the one I had before, but I filled in the code sections again in the hope somehow this would solve the problem. Resubmitted a version with 100% unit test success and got a 0% grade again with the same error.
This is what the change log of the of the C2_W3_Assignment says:
"#### Updated on Sep 11, 2023 1:02 PM CEST
Instructor update: Jan 13, 2023 3:39 AM CET
Implemented feedback and prepared for grading" (continued)
I am fairly certain that the problem is not on my end.

I’m exactly the same, been through exactly the same steps to resolve, but still not grading any of my exercises other than 0%

Hi all. I am having the same exact issue. Same message as well. I’ve gone through the recommended steps several times with no luck - 0% on all grading.

Hello Lucas @lucas.coutinho
I think you are the learning technologist for this course. Many of the learners are facing this version issue and even though they are updating their lab, it is still having the same error.
Can you please guide them.
Thank you in advance.
Regards
DP
yes, im facing the same issue, please help
I tried every method that Coursera’s optional column had, but nothing worked, I tried shutting it down renaming it and then again updating the lab.
Not a single thing worked!
Please some solution fast
This is the error I get after updating the lab
Hi @Prabhat_Jha!
Please note that the method to get the latest files only works if you rename the file you want to be replaced or delete it. Coursera will not overwrite any file. After you do this, you cannot just replace the old file with the new one, you will need to manually copy and paste each solution in each cell. Have you done that?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Lucas
Thanks Lucas. Am having the same problem. I renamed the file as you mentioned, several times. It did not work
Hi @lucas.coutinho ,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Here is the step-by-step process I did.
- Once I got an error that my version of Jupyter Notebook was older, I saved the notebook on my local drive, went into the Help section, and updated the Lab. All answers were saved so I submitted the assignment which gave me the same error.
- Then, I clicked on the file and clicked on Open after which I selected the file as shown in the picture
- Then, I renamed the file “C2_W3_Assignment_v2” and ran the code which gave me the error.
PS: I did not copy-paste the answers before submitting them.
Doubt: If I rename the file, that doesn’t reset the codes to “None”. All the codes are the same as it was.
How do I solve this?
Hi all!
I have found the problem, it was from our side when upgrading the grader. I have fixed it. Could you all please get the latest version and try it again? It should work now.
Please let me know if it does not.
Thanks,
Lucas
Hi @Prabhat_Jha!
You must rename or delete the notebook before getting the latest version. This is because Coursera will not overwrite any file from your workspace. So the steps should be:
- Rename/delete the notebook
- Click on “Get Latest Version”
- Once the new notebook appears (with the name C2_W2_Assignment.ipynb"), then you manually paste each solution from your previous notebook to the new one.
This should work. Let me know if it doesn’t.
Cheers,
Lucas
@lucas.coutinho , is the renaming before deleting a required step? I tried to delete everything including notebook, the unittest py as well as the picture folder. And got the latest files. I am still not able to get it. thanks!
Hi @Francis_Ouyang,
Yes, if you delete everything before getting the latest version, this should work. Could you provide more details on exactly what happened in your case?
Thanks Lucas. I just saw your message saying it was fixed and tried it again (1st try today). And I am all set now!
It worked!!
Thank you so much @Deepti_Prasad and @lucas.coutinho
You guys promptly replied and helped!
you guys are the best!
Cheers!!
Lucas, it works. Thanks for the help!
Hello lucas, i got the same issue and i have follow these instructions like firstly i delete the notebook, then i click help to get the latest version and update the lab and last i copied manually each test and get passed in each test but the result is still same i got 0% grade. how i can fix this problem, i have many times doing your instruction hopefully i get mistake but i’m sure i have follow the instruction clearly.
Hi @Syahrul_Rayhansyah!
Have you tried this today? I am asking this because I have fixed the issue just earlier today, so if you tried it before the fix, you would still get the error.
Please let me know if this is or isn’t the case.
Thanks,
Lucas
